Hi,
About a month back, i had gone to land at Vancouver though my actual destination was elsewhere. I flew into Vancouver and was directed to the immigration formalities area. I had taken the amount required as Cashier's checks.
It went pretty smoothly. The person in charge took the address in Canada where the PR card was to be sent. When landing, watch out the question how long you plan to be there? That was it !!!
While returning, I came back using AP documents. That was also smooth.
Thanks for other people's experiences. It was helpful.

When we tried to schedule infopass (for sep) we found only one are two dates and appointments start from 6 AM. Is this correct? Will the office be open so early? We got a slot at 7.30 AM.
Also once you book an appoinment, I see only 'cancel' option, how to get to modify option?
Thank you for all the help.

How about getting together on the 20th of this month,
Move fast and hold a rally or send out flowers to Obama administration for their racism towards immigrants.
Act fast, I know 20th is close, think about is as an emergency

count me in. 31 so far.
I was working on DC but so far just received 30 votes..
Like I said I will talk to core members if only we have 1000 members who wants to do it in DC on July 14th.. So many members are online but they don't even want to take a poll.. I don't know what to expect from members..

I had decided not to post anyhting about this illegal immigrant/racism thing. But cant help making one comment. You called others racist. But I wonder if you are doing the same by trying to show using numbers etc. how Mexicans are better than Indians. Would that not be racism? Its strange how we are blind to our own biases.
Moderator, sorry I broke my promise. But this is the last I will say on this.
Anyway, moving forward...It will be nice to make a list of desirable points in a bill that is independent of any cause for illegal immigrants. I will start with two points. You can add more if you like. If there is enough momentum and support for these points, then in a truly democratic environment, we may want to modify the core IV goals to reflect that (Ideally I would prefer that there be a vote for what should be the core goals...after all most people here have contributed something towards the cause...and only those who have contributed should be allowed to vote...no free lunch).
1. Allow people to file for 485 and get EAD even if visa numbers are not available
2. Allow EAD to be FULLY portable without restrictons (i.e., irrespective of job description or job title or job location or salary).
The above two dont ask for sweeping changes in immigration laws such as increase visa numbers etc. etc. and are easy for the average American person to understand. And so can hopefuly be passed easily.
With the above two passed, I dont think many people will complain if it takes another 5 years to get their GC. Agree?
By the way, I have got my EAD card and my PD is also current. So the above two goals will be redundant for me. My story is that I am stuck in FBI namecheck. But the moderators have already indicated that it cant be one of the core goals. So I would not list that even if I would like that to be one of the core goals.

Your post is good and you are focusing on our IV goals. Thank you for your comment. I will just say though that, as everybody knows I just reacted to others' attacks and never implied that anyone is better than anybody. People who have read my posts know my admiration for India and my belief that it will be Americans who will fight to get a job there one day. The numbers I shared are not "blinding me by my own bias" like you say at all. I fact, I used numbers in order not to be biased and rather to be fair. I just responded to some ignorant comments by some people. I have been to India and hope to go back, and have many great friends from there. What discouraged me is that some people will attack my country especially in a forum where that doesn't belong and where we are all trying to help each other. Any divisions among us are a victory for our detractors. I hope you understand. Let's focus on helping each other going forward, and let's all be friends! Thanks.

I think we should be careful about what we (Employment based immigrats, esp. those who are stuck in backlogs) support. I definitely do not support any reform that does not give us priority or does not eliminate employment based immigration backlogs.
I also think green card lottery, chain immigration, and refugee green cards should be eliminated and those visa numbers should be used for employment based immigrants because all these people can immigrate just like us through employment. We contribute more to the American society and should be given priority. I guess when we become American someday, we would like immigrants who contribute to our community too. Isn't that right? :)

My status on CRIS has changed. No emails. Its says my approval has been sent. But nothing about the card. I spoke to the CS and they said my biometrics have to be uploaded. In the mean time can I get my passport stamped?
One of my friend was in your situation. He got the I797 stating that 485 was approved. He took infopass and got the passport stamped. Hope this helps.

Emilio has made a statement that the flowers will be forwarded to Walter Reed hospital

Those who are seeing the 'Welcome Notice malied' status have ADIT mentioned in the Case Status online. There is NOTHING to be done at your end except waiting for the cards once your case is approved. USCIS will NOT approve a case unless the FP is complete - refer to the 485 adjudicator field manual.
Just like their legacy IT systems, USCIS standard email messages are also in the same league and have not been updated. Wait for the cards and contact USCIS only if you dont receive them in a reasonable amount of time - read two weeks from case approval date.

so from the above post it is obvious Sen Menendez will consider a recapture provision only as part of a comprehensive bill. Atleast you got an email that addresses your expressed concern about backlogs. I just got the standard reply for DREAM Act, even though I had specifically spoken about LEGAL immigrants-
Dear Mr. xxx:
Thank you for contacting me to express your support for S. 729, the DREAM Act of 2009. Your opinion is very important to me, and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you on this important issue.
You will be pleased to know that I am a strong cosponsor of the DREAM Act and am fighting tirelessly to enact this critical legislation into law. As the first person in my family to attend college, I can personally attest to the vital importance of a quality education. The DREAM Act, would give countless innocent children the same opportunity I hadto fully reach their potential and fulfill the American Dream. In doing so, it will give our country thousands of new doctors, teachers, pilots, and servicemen. It is a win-win situation for both those who would directly benefit from this legislation, as well as our country as a whole.
Those that oppose the DREAM Act believe that children should pay the consequences for their parents' mistakes. They believe that children who were brought to this country by their parents without the proper documentation or were kept in this country by their parents without the proper documentation should not be allowed to get an American education. That is not only wrong, but it also goes against who we are and what we stand for.
While the DREAM Act has yet to be passed, you may rest assured knowing that I will continue to fight until every child in the United States has the opportunity to reach the American Dream. Anything less is simply un-American.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate your support. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of more assistance. I invite you to visit my website Robert Menendez - US Senator for New Jersey: Home (http://menendez.senate.gov) to learn of other important issues to New Jersey.

It's definetly a shock and an usual post on these forums. I am spellbound by the support you are getting from the forum members. I am seeing the humanitarian attitude all around praying for your health. This should bring change about the way you think about your health. You are fighting against an enemy- the prognosis you got from the doctors. The only option left for you is winning against the enemy no matter what it takes. The foremost thought you should inculcate is that you are winning against the enemy. That's it. I believe the will power will definetly take you out of the fatal disease.
I know it is hard but try concentrating more on your health than other things including your family members. Hopefully generous IV members will do something for your family which probably can be done in our limits. Whereas it is you who has to fight against the disease and so you got to take care of your health first.
My best wishes are with you.

Actually when you are in H1b and without pay then you are out of status. You and your company are violating the law. Impact for your company is minimal if they get caught. Company could be fined for 10k to 1M based on number of violations. If they violations are so much then your company could be banned for h1b for a few years. In that case they will start different company and escape.
First impact for you is you will face problem while H1b transfer. At the time of transfer if you do not have paystubs your H1 transfer will be denied.
While processing green card USCIS could send RFE regarding this and you need to explain this and USCIS could accept or refuse.
When you are out of status for more than 6 months you are subject to ban of entry for 3 years to USA. And if you are out of status for more than 1 year you subject to 10 year ban. Again they will ask explanation before taking any action. These were extreme cases I never heard of. But if you knowlingly violate law you are taking risk knowlingly. Many cases USCIS is sympathatic. Again this case is similar to hiding tax from IRS and 80% of people get away because of lack of enforcement and 20% people those got caught and their life will be screwed completely.
H1b will not go dorment untill you change to H4.
Hi
I came to us on H4 in 2007 and the got my H1B in 2008. I am not getting a job on H1 yet so i want to know that till when the H1B be valid as I am not genarating any salery and my consultant is not running my pay roll ?
And if the H1 goes dorment then what can be done next?
